Andrade Salmón v. Bolivia

This case is about the prosecution of the Mayor of La Paz, Bolivia’s capital, for graft and corruption in connection with several investigations. Although she was eventually found not guilty in all criminal proceedings, she spent more than six months in pre-trial detention. Eventually, the Inter-American Court found violation of some of her rights protected under the American Convention (e.g. right to property, right of movement and right to a trial within reasonable time), but found Bolivia not responsible for violation of other rights (e.g. right to liberty and security and right to protection of honor and dignity).
