On July 3, 1993, the State-sponsored Civilian Self-Defense Patrols, murdered and an assaulted a group of delegates and Mr. Jorge Carpio Nicolle. Mr. Carpio Nicolle was a well-known journalist and politician Jorge, who opposed President Serrano Elías’ coup d’état.
