Girón et al. v. Guatemala

This case is about the sentencing to death and execution in Guatemala of two persons who were found guilty of the rape and murder of a four-year- old girl. The Court fond Guatemala in violation of several articles of the American Convention including because Guatemalan law mandated capital punishment for the crime in question, because of the faulty prosecution and trial, and because of the way the State managed their stay on death row and execution.
